Carhartt Workwear

The largest selection of the best workwear at theworkwearstore.com

Welcome To Carhartt country

The Scofield family had been fans of Carhartt work wear for years. In fact, we found we preferred Carhartt clothing every day, even if we weren't working in the yard, hiking, or doing any of the rough and tumble activities that Carhartt clothing is so great for. We just liked how it looked and felt. We discovered for ourselves that no other outdoor clothing brand beats the construction or durability of Carhartt clothes, either. The decision to open a store to offer Carhartt clothing seemed like a natural choice.

2012 Brings New Irish Setter Work Boots

Posted By GoWorkwear on January 18, 2012

Last fall when Carhartt decided to discontinue their partnership with Red Wing Shoes we did our research to ensure that we are still able to provide our customers with quality workwear including boots. Irish Setter, which is a Red Wing brand, has decided to pursue a work brand alongside their hunt brand which has been very successful. Beginning in March 2012, we will have an extensive in-store selection of this new boot line along with the complete line available on our website. Although the Irish Setter brand has been tagged a hunting boot brand for many years, Red Wing’s new tag line for the work line is “Field Experienced, Job Ready.” Check out five of the new styles that will be arriving in early March 2012.

Carhartt Flame-Resistant Clothing – Designed to Protect, Built to Last

Posted By GoWorkwear on December 9, 2011

Carhartt has always designed their product to protect you from cold temperatures and harsh weather conditions. They have also always constructed it to last whether you work in the farm fields, oil refineries, or are doing jobs around the house. In the last few years, Carhartt has designed their Flame-Resistant clothing line and continues to advance their products. These products may not look much different from their other products, such as their pants, shirts, and jackets, but have a purpose to protect the worker.

Electric lineman, pipeline and refinery workers, as well as industrial electricians can be at risk of electric arcs and flash fires in their work places. These arc flashes can result in exposure to temperatures as high as 35,000 degrees Fahrenheit, four times the surface temperature of the sun. These flashes are short-lived blasts but with their severity combined with improper clothing, your body is exposed to temperatures that can be very harmful or even deadly.

Carhartt has designed their flame-resistant clothing to protect your body from these extreme temperatures and will self-distinguish once the heat source has been removed. With cotton clothing, after the heat source is removed, the material will continue to burn which causes additional injuries to the worker. Carhartt currently makes thirty one different flame-resistant products for both the male and female workers. With each flame-resistant product that they make, it is given a HRC rating which tells the worker the level of protection that the piece of clothing provides. Different industries and jobs require different levels of protection while layering of flame-resistant clothing also adds increased protection to meet these required levels. OSHA regulations have added more strict rules to job sites as to who must wear flame-resistant clothing and what level of protection they must have.

Carhartt’s flame-resistant clothing has been built with the long-lasting and durable thinking that most of their customer’s have been used to for many years. Their flame-resistant clothing will continue to be flame-resistant for the life of the garment if the garment-care instructions are followed, unlike some competitors who treat the fabric to be flame-resistant, but is then washed out of the fabric over time.

Carhartt has expanded its flame-resistant clothing line just like it did with its traditional work clothing to serve the women in these industries. With different styles of shirts, pants, and jackets for the workers, workers who require this clothing are sure to be not only safe but comfortable in the clothing as well. Check out our Carhartt Flame-Resistant Clothing.

Layering Is Key To Staying Warm During Those Cold Days and Nights

Posted By GoWorkwear on November 29, 2011

The local meteorologists are predicting the temperatures to turn to their coldest of the season in a few days. If the weather does indeed follow, we want to be sure that you are able to stay warm, whether at the job site or doing chores around the house. One of the biggest mistakes that people make is thinking that the heaviest and thickest snowsuit will keep you the warmest. Instead if a person wears multiple layers, their body will be able to breathe through their clothes and regulate a much more comfortable temperature. Let’s take a look at what would be a great wardrobe for a person that is asked to be outside in the elements.

Starting with your base layer, there have been incredible strides made by manufacturers to produce a layer that keeps you warm but also wicks the moisture away. This element is very important in ensuring that you not only stay warm but also dry. Many times the cold feeling sets in once a person has begun to sweat while working and the moisture is absorbed into their clothes and turns cold. Carhartt offers two great options as a moisture wicking base layer. The lightweight consists of K290 Lightweight Thermal Crewneck Top and K292 Lightweight Thermal Bottom, while the midweight pieces consist of the K207 Midweight Thermal Crew Neck and K208 Midweight Thermal Bottom. All four of these pieces feature Carhartt’s Work-Dry moisture wicking system. If you are not so hyped over the moisture wicking technology Carhartt makes their heavyweight set in 100% cotton with the K228 Heavyweight Cotton Thermal Crew Neck and K229 Heavyweight Cotton Thermal Bottom making up the set.

The next layer may or may not be needed depending on how cold it is on the job site. This layer usually consists of a shirt and possibly a sweatshirt. Many of our customers prefer the K126 Long Sleeve Workwear Pocket T-Shirt or K128 Long Sleeve Workwear Henley. These shirts are constructed of a 6.75-ounce, 100% cotton jersey making it last longer than other shirts. Many times we have wives buying their husbands new shirts due to the color fading after wearing for a year plus rather the shirt getting holes in it. Carhartt makes many great sweatshirts for layering as well, however note the four different weights to help make your choice (in order of warmth starting at least) : lightweight, midweight, heavyweight, and thermal-lined.

Lastly, the outermost layer, which if chosen correctly can make the biggest difference in whether you are able to stay warm or get cold. Take a look at the conditions that you expect to encounter and base this layer decision on that. If the conditions are just going to be cold, a Carhartt jacket with a their popular 100% cotton duck exterior will be sufficient. There are many different linings which will deliver different levels of warmth. If you are going to be experiencing wet or windy conditions a nylon material for an exterior layer will provide for greater protection from those elements. A waterproof layer is the best solution with the most popular being the C64 PVC Rain Coat and R39 PVC Rain Bib. No matter the conditions that you are faced with on a daily basis at your job site or around the house, proper layering will ensure you are dry, warm, and comfortable. Feel free to post questions below or on our Facebook page and we’ll be sure to answer them.

I need a zip-front because pullovers drive me nuts!

This fall Carhartt has six different options if you are looking for a zip-front sweatshirt. The new K500 Lightweight Hooded Zip-Front Sweatshirt is the lightest weight at 7.5 ounces. In their midweight, 10.5 ounces, there are four options with the K122 Midweight Hooded Zip-Front Sweatshirt being the most commonly asked for by customers. A Carhartt graphic hooded sweatshirt and AP Work Camo hooded sweatshirt also are featured in this weight. If you are not a fan of a hood, the K350 Midweight Mock Neck Zip-Front Sweatshirt is the Carhartt option for you. Carhartt never forgets about the people blessed to live in cold climates and the K185 Heavyweight Hooded Zip-Front Sweatshirt and J149 Thermal-Lined Hooded Zip-Front Sweatshirt is their answer for you. Many of our customers mention that the J149 is their winter jacket of choice in more mild climates but also can be a great layering garment in the most extreme cold weather climates.

I need a pullover! I can’t stand zippers!

Just like in the zip-front options, Carhartt has three different weights of pullover options for you. The K499 Lightweight Hooded Sweatshirt along with two graphic sweatshirts, K524 Est. 1889 Graphic Lightweight Hooded Sweatshirt and K525 Est. 18889 Workwear Graphic Lightweight Hooded Sweatshirt, are your options. There are five options that the midweight offers: K121 Midweight Hooded Sweatshirt, K124 Midweight Crewneck Sweatshirt, K288 Midweight Hooded Logo-Sleeve Sweatshirt, K505 Distant Peaks Graphic Midweight Hooded Sweatshirt, and K506 Master Cloth Graphic Midweight Hooded Sweatshirt. The last three of these options feature graphics on the sweatshirt. Carhartt showed off their history this fall with many of the shirts and sweatshirts featuring graphics incorporating the year that they started, 1889. There are two options in their heavyweight, 13 ounces, the K184 Heavyweight Hooded Sweatshirt and the crewneck heavyweight, K186. The thermal lined pullovers offer the same two options, the hooded J170 and crewneck J154 options.

I like pullovers but the tight neck chokes me!

If you like pullovers but find the necks are too tight for your liking, Carhartt’s zip-mock sweatshirts are the answer you are looking for. The K503 Midweight Quarter-Zip Mock-Neck Sweatshirt features the 10.5 ounce weight. The K188 Heavyweight Zip-Mock Sweatshirt is the heavier version but also features a square bottom, a feature that only this sweatshirt in the Carhartt line has. Last but not least, the K217 Heavyweight Hooded Zip-Mock Sweatshirt. At 13 ounces, this sweatshirt is warm but with the hood and mock collar, it gives you many options to keep you comfortable.

These sweatshirts can be found on our website at www.theworkwearstore.com your source for the best workwear products with the low prices you deserve.

The Release Of A New Work Boot Line

Posted By GoWorkwear on November 4, 2011

The partnership of Carhartt and Red Wing that has built quality work boots for the past five plus years will be continuing moving forward. Starting in March 2012, Carhartt will be releasing a new boot line that they have been working with the Black Diamond Group on. While carrying the Carhartt brand, constructed by Red Wing, over the past few years, we’ve been accustomed to the quality of construction and materials that Red Wing demands. We’re proud to announce the introduction of Red Wing’s Irish Setter brand to our lineup of quality work lines.

This excerpt was taken from the Irish Setter website.

“The Irish Setter hunting brand was established over 60 years ago when the Red Wing Shoe Company introduced a work boot that was also configured for superior performance in upland fields and forests. This new boot was called Irish Setter. It quickly became the boot of choice for hunters seeking sport footwear with an uncompromising sense of quality, durability, and tradition.

Over the following decades, Red Wing Shoe consistently added boots to the Irish Setter line that incorporated new features and benefits combining innovative design with the legendary performance that made its work boots an American icon.

Today, Irish Setter boots continue to deliver on this heritage of excellence by pursuing new technology through invention, partnership, and development.

We will continue to bring new boots to the market that push the definition for performance, confidently leading hunters into any terrain in all sorts of weather conditions and back out again. Boots that are as loyal and trusted as our namesake.”

We are excited to add this brand to our line-up and will be adding the Irish Setter Work brand starting in March 2012.

Blaklader Pants Stand Up To The Toughest Of Tests

Posted By GoWorkwear on October 18, 2011

Blaklader, although a new product line in the United States, has been around for many years. The tradition of high quality and functional products has grown their line and brought it across the pond. Their current US line sports seven different pant options for American consumers. If you are tired of wearing out pair after pair of work pants, try these. Their construction matches many of our countries top manufacturers for quality. With much of their pants made out of Cordura material, we expect you to get sick of the pants before being able to wear them out. Let us take a look at a few of the pant styles and pick out the differences between them.

The Blaklader Bantam pant with our without the utility pockets is the lightest weight pant from Blaklader. This pant features an 8 oz. 100% cotton construction with Cordura knee pockets and accessory pockets. This pant is offered in a khaki, stone, black, and navy color and although it is light, the durability from this pant will exceed your expectations. This pant will work well in the warmer climates around the country where workers are looking for the protection on their legs or if they are required to wear pants but don’t want to wear heavy pants.

The Blaklader Brawny pant is the 12 oz. cotton version of the Bantam pant. This pant features the same Cordura knee pockets as well as accessory pockets. These two areas are found to be the highest wear areas for most consumers, hence why Blaklader has worked hard to reinforce them to stand up the abuse of hard working consumers. Both of these pants feature triple-stitched seams to prevent rip outs and a strong metal fly zipper. The Brawny pant is offered in the following colors: khaki, moss, navy and black. Both of these pants are offered with and without the utility pockets. These utility pockets are attached to the pants and function similar to a tool belt. At the end of the day, these pockets can be tucked into the normal pant pockets for a clean look.

The Blaklader Heavy Worker with Utility Pockets is the ultimate pant for durability. This pant is offered in navy, black and tan colors and features a 12 oz. 78-22% poly-cotton canvas construction combined with the extra strength Cordura reinforcements. Just like the Bantam and Brawny, this pant features triple-stitched seams and a strong metal fly zipper. This pant is going to have the same pockets and loops throughout the pant as well. The Heavy Worker pant has been called tough as nails, but from experience is very comfortable as well. Blaklader believes and proves that their pants last 2 ½ times longer than other work pants. Although their products are slightly higher priced than many competitors, having to buy two to three pants of a competitor compared to one from Blaklader will lead to a savings in the end.

The Carhartt Flame-Resistant Work-Dry Twill Shirt Is Finally Here!

Posted By GoWorkwear on October 6, 2011

After a much anticipated wait, the FRS003 Flame-Resistant Work-Dry Lightweight Twill Shirt is finally in-stock. From its earliest announcement, customers have been asking for this shirt and we can finally say it’s in-stock. A few years ago Carhartt had released a line of Work-Dry shirts (non-FR) which customers and staff fell in love with. They were quality Carhartt t-shirts and polo’s that featured a moisture-wicking material that kept the customer cooler as it wicked away the moisture for comfort. Let us take a look at the new FRS003 Flame-Resistant Work-Dry Lightweight Twill Shirt.

The reason customers have been asking for this shirt for so long is right in the name. With Carhartt being able to add the Work-Dry technology into this shirt; oil and gas, lineman and all others required to wear flame-resistant work clothes will be able to remain cooler on the jobsite while maintaining the proper safety regulations. This shirt’s technology works to wick the moisture away from the body and also has anti-odor fabric treatment. This shirt is constructed out of the 6-ounce FR twill fabric but has an HRC rating of 2 and ATPV rating of 8.7. Before this shirt Carhartt’s 6-ounce shirt only had a rating of 1 which didn’t mean many company’s or industry standards.

This shirt also features the two chest pockets with flaps and button closures that have been consistent with many other Carhartt flame-resistant shirts. Button closure are found on the front of the shirt as well as on the cuffs. The one downfall for the time being is the shirt is only offered in two colors, khaki and dark navy. We expect this shirt to give the FRS160 a run for its money with the additional features and starting at the same low price of $57. Check out the FRS003 Flame-Resistant Work-Dry Lightweight Twill Shirt in the khaki color below.

Fall Means Carhartt Flame Resistant Jackets Will Soon Be Needed

Posted By GoWorkwear on September 21, 2011

As we get set to say hello to the first day of fall, the temperatures have already begun to drop in many parts of the country. Although the temperature drops and frost meets you in the morning, American workers still must get to work and get the job done. For many oil and gas employees, they are asked to work outside in horrendous conditions for many hours at a time. Lucky for them, Carhartt is continuing to reach out to them with warm clothing options that meet their OSHA demanded rules. All of Carhartt Flame Resistant clothes are equipped with an HRC rating as well as ATPV rating. Different job sites can require different ratings and Carhartt has worked hard to be sure their customers are warm and safe.

Carhartt has been regarded for a long time as a manufacturer of durable and high quality clothing. This clothing meets the demands that American workers require to complete their jobs. For the 2012 Fall Carhartt lineup they have continued to provide workers with high quality and warm clothes for those less than desirable weather conditions. Let us take a look at a few of the Carhartt flame resistant coats and jackets that will help keep you safe and warm this fall and winter.

The FRJ184 Flame Resistant Duck Active Jac is quilted lined with a 10.5-ounce FR quilt lining. This is the thickest of lining that Carhartt has incorporated into their Carhartt flame resistant jackets. This jacket features a lined hood and adjustable Nomex FR draw cord. Two inside patch pockets with FR hook-and-loop closure and Nomex FR rib-knit cuffs and waistband are some of the additional features that this jacket offers to the worker.

If you prefer a coat, which is meant to hit you in the mid thighs rather than below the pants pockets, the FRC066 Flame Resistant Duck Traditional Coat is an option for you. This coat is constructed out of durable 13-ounce cotton FR duck. This coat is lined with the same 10.5-ounce FR quilt lining as the FRJ184. This coat doesn’t feature an attached hood, however this gives the people an option that don’t like it. The FRA265 Flame Resistant Duck Hood, which is quilt lined with the same lining as the FRC066, can be attached and detached as preferred by the worker if they are looking for a flexible option. These two jackets show the great diversity that Carhartt has produced for workers giving them options when it comes to their work clothing.

Carhartt Denim Jean Jackets Are Back!

Posted By GoWorkwear on September 7, 2011

We knew when Carhartt discontinued their old denim jean jackets that they wouldn’t be gone for an extended period of time. We were unsure if they would be missing for a season or a few seasons, but we are glad to have them back in our store and available to you. Carhartt released two versions of a denim jacket for the 2011 fall season. Let’s take a look at these two jackets and dissect the new and improved Denim Jean Jackets from Carhartt.

To start, the J291 Carhartt Denim Jean Jacket – Unlined, is exactly what the name implies. This unlined denim jean jacket from Carhartt is constructed out of 11.75-ounce, 100% cotton denim. Like many denim jackets before this one, it has buttons on the front for closure. Carhartt utilized button adjustable cuffs and in the waistband giving the jacket a modern yet traditional look to it. This jacket along with all of their outerwear features triple-stitched main seams. This jacket would be a great option in the fall and spring or even into the colder months when paired with a warm sweatshirt underneath.

The lined version, the J292 Carhartt Denim Jean Jacket – Sherpa Lined, adds the warmth many people seek during the winter months. Carhartt maintained many of the technical details as the J291, however added the warm Sherpa lining to the jacket. The sherpa lining is considered “Warmer” on their scale of Warm, Warmer, and Warmest. Carhartt does not rate their jackets to a specific temperature as personal body temperatures can vary greatly and cause mislead judgments by consumers. Previous sherpa lined jackets combined with a sweatshirt underneath made for an incredibly warm jacket and we see this one being no different.

Be sure to check out these two jackets and stay tuned to this blog for more announcements of the new products that Carhartt is releasing this fall.

Many people prefer these type of jackets with a hood as you always have it with you but that doesn’t mean you have to utilize it. The mock-neck collar is utilized by many workers who are required to be in a vehicle often. The hood has a tendency to cause discomfort in the neck area with the headrest in many vehicles. With these two jackets being offered at the same price it’s really a personal preference to go with the hood or not.

Lastly, the J294 Soft Shell Hybrid Jacket from Carhartt is a slightly higher priced jacket, however has increased features for consumers. The lower part of the garment remains the same construction as the J250 and J251 jackets, however the upper garment is constructed of 100% nylon quilt.
